Subterranean Termites

Subterranean Termites

Termites will travel up to 250 feet from their home in search of food. That means your structure is vulnerable to the millions of termites in adjacent properties on all sides. That's right - termites in your neighbor's yard can be foraging around your home.

Of the 45 types of termites in the United States, the most common termite in Hutchinson is the subterranean variety. (There are 3 main types of termites: subterranean, drywood, and dampwood termites.) The subterranean termite that causes the most damage in Kansas is the Eastern Subterranean Termite.

Drywood termites only show up in Kansas when they are imported from warmer tropical areas.

Subterranean Termite Treatment Methods

Termite PreTreatment

Often overlooked when building a new home or making an addition on an existing building, is proper termite prevention. The best time to prevent termites is before the structure is in place. Termite pretreatment allows us to control termites in areas that are inaccessible after construction is finished.

Liquid Barrier Treatment for Termites

A very popular and effective control method for termites is a liquid barrier treatment. Arrest A Pest uses the most current non-repellant products on the market to help keep your home & property free of termites. For example, check out this line of termite control products from BASF.

Termite Baiting Stations

When the location of a home or the composition of the soil makes use of liquid barrier treatment difficult, termite baiting stations provide an effective alternative. If your property or structure is too close to water, in soil that is heavily rocky, or in a position where drilling concrete for liquid treatment is not possible, Arrest A Pest will recommend the Advance® Termite Baiting System.
